Nalini Sharma has been described as a hilarious, beautiful, soulful firecracker by both her friends and enemies. As savage, classy, bougie, ratchet by all her exes. And a giant pain in the ass by her mother. Nalini spent her childhood on several naval bases in India and grew up in several small towns in the US. She was raised by an untrained Doberman, has survived more than one motorcycle accident, the pain and joy of a “passionate” family, a competitive academic education, her apartment burning down and is currently surviving (not well) clown comedy nights in Los Angeles.
Nalini got her start in NYC where she trained under the esteemed Meisner studio, Maggie Flanigan and became a BAT, the resident acting company at The Obie Award Winning Flea Theater. In Los Angeles, Nalini has built quite the reputation in comedy theatre, clowning and in Film/TV. She was hand selected by the legendary Steve Martin for his Masterclass. Her first sketch show, “A Funny Thing Happened On Our Way To India” had a hit sold out run at Second City. She wrote Birdie & Blanche, a 2016 Sundance New Voices Lab finalist and was selected for the 2018 CBS comedy showcase. In 2019, her short film Garbage was an official selection at HBO’s Women In Comedy Festival and her TV pilot, Crooked, was a semi-finalist at the Screencraft Writing Fellowship. In 2021, she was selected for the prestigious Blacklist + WIF lab. She co-wrote a play exploring race in America, called Being Chaka, under the Archive Residency Grant and TEA Artistry that had its world premiere at The New Ohio Theater in New York City to great reviews. Most recently, she is the founding member of LA’s newest theater company, Blue Pen Theatre and was nominated in several categories for their inaugural production of Stupid F****** Bird in May 2025.
